WURI World University Innovation 2026
- Title
WURI World University Innovation 2026
- Summary
World university rankings measure what universities have accumulated.
WURI measures what they do.
The difference is the unit of assessment. WURI evaluates programs, not
institutions — so a single well-designed practice can place a small
university alongside the largest.
The 2026 edition draws on 13,211 programs from 1,927 universities in 96
countries, reviewed by 301 university presidents and senior academics.
It identifies where innovation is taking hold in higher education: three
structural shifts, ten strategic trends, regional patterns, and 100
university profiles.
WHAT IS INSIDE
- The Global Top 500 and Top 100 rankings across 24 innovation categories
- Patterns in the 2026 results: geography, engagement, and performance
- Innovation intelligence: three meta-shifts and ten strategic trends
- 100 university profiles, each analyzed through a consistent four-dimension
framework of Challenge, Implementation, Outcomes, and Future Vision
- The WURI three-axis framework and evaluation methodology
Its finding is blunt. What separates the leaders is rarely budget.
It is design.
For everyone who decides what a university does next.
Published annually by the WURI Foundation and the Education Research
Institute, Seoul National University.
